Enjoyed a special occasion dinner here. The tasting plate had good variety and quality for the meats. The steak tartare had pork crackling skin on the side as tasty as Filipino chicharon. If you're lucky to get the divine 1kg T-bone steak in your daily specials, have it cooked medium-rare. Great food, friendly staff, overall would recommend for a fancy lunch or dinner.

Just finished up dinner here - everything is wonderful! Service is absolutely perfect - the Porchetta the best I’ve ever tasted! Cannot wait to go back. With so many restaurants to choose from in Melbourne this is definitely one to try - so glad I found it.

Perfection on a plate We couldn’t fault the food and service… Oysters were fresh and magnificent Tomahawk steak was to die for Then wash it all down with amazing wine served up from the most amazing staff

We booked a private dining room at La Luna for our engagement celebration. The food, atmosphere and service was incredible and we cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their attentiveness. Mia and Lauren were great to communicate with leading up to the event and the team on the ground provided some amazing service. All our guests thoroughly enjoyed their food and beverage options and we would highly recommend La Luna to anyone looking to book a private function. Would also recommend lunch or dinner here for couples or groups as the food and service was excellent when we dined here on a separate occasion. Thank you to the La Luna team for an awesome experience celebrating our engagement.

We had a wonderful night of delicious food and wine. Every dish was amazing. They are known for their dry aged beef cuts and the T-bone was certainly impressive. But the side of super crunchy beef fat potatoes were a highlight too. Both the pastas were heavenly as was their special butter garlic prawn dish, we were glad the waiter gave us a generous serve of extra bread to soak up the sauce! Their wine list was huge and featured many Australian and imported options. The wines the bottle were marked up quite a lot. There’s also option to have a half bottle and many other cocktail options.

Came here 2 weeks ago. Their house smoked salmon and terrine were amazing. Would come back for those. But some dishes were too salty e.g. the steak tartare.

Been around for over 25 years, La Luna Bistro is an institution and I can understand why when I visited this cosy restaurant on Rathdowne St. The food was great - beef tartare, garlic butter prawns (with toasted bread to soak up all the garlic buttery goodness), duck breast, butcher’s cut (shoulder) and madelines and cheese to finish. All were consistent and nicely paced between dishes, a sign of a well-run kitchen. La Luna has such amazing staff - they feel like family. Knowledgable with the menu, attentive but not intrusive plus polite to give us a heads up that the second seating was about to arrive. I mentioned to the wait staff it was my birthday and they put a candle on a brownie and sang happy birthday. Thank you - I’m very touched.

My husband and I had Valentine’s Day dinner here, and had a lovely time. Our server Harry was amazing and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend. The menu is very limited if you don’t eat seafood or beef, & a lot of the seating is up a flight of stairs, so keep that in mind when booking.
